WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?

WHY??? For the love of pete, WHY?

We've all asked the question. We've all wondered the answer. The joke is so old, I'm sure that our grandparents told it when they were kids. In fact, my grandma told it to Tornado and Twister the last time we saw her! Though there are many different variations, she still prefers the original answer..."to get to the other side". (She was so proud of herself for telling it ~ I can still see her sparkly blue eyes and her matter-of-fact grin.)

To find a suitable answer to this question, or fourteen answers rather, you should check out at the library, or purchase:

It's a brilliant book in which fourteen different children's book illustrators, including two of my personal favorites Mo Willems and David Shannon, each have a two-page spread to answer this question. The different styles of the illustrators are evident, and it's sure to bring a smile to all who read it.

If you've already read this book, or if you read it in the future, I would love for you to leave a comment telling the Brownstone family which is your favorite answer to "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
