HELP ME! HELP ME!

I'm seeing spots!

This week Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer is hosting her second edition of Works-For-Me-Wednesday: Backwards Day! Once again, she has charged us to ASK for tips rather than give them.

Oh, how I hope that at least one of you can give me a tip on how to fix this problem:
We think that it is an anti-bacterial hand sanitizer gel stain. Twister recently sneaked a bottle from my purse. I found the almost empty tiny, little bottle and this BIG spot on the coffee table! Yikes!!!

The sad thing...we don't really ever even use the gel. We're soap and water kind of people. However, some activities call for the stuff when you know that there will be no soap and water around come hand washing time!

Please help me!
We also have a lovely ring on another table. I think the culprit was Mr. Brownstone, but he will never 'fess up to it!

I read somewhere that if you use some white tooth paste- the actual paste, not the gel, and you rub it in it takes out the rings. I've never tried it because I'm still waiting to see if one of the 30 tubes of toothpaste we have is in fact white paste. :) it's worth a shot!

I've heard the toothpaste thing too. You could also try a mix of water and baking soda.

I don't know what kind of finish that is -polished, unvarnished, etc. so it kind of depends on that. If it just a ring in the wax, the baking soda/toothpaste should work.

If the alcohol has harmed the finish, however, you could always buy some furniture markers. They are around $4 and you just color over the stain. I bought mine at WalMart.

If all else fails, you can bring the table over here to our house and we can sand it down and re-finsh the top...it's better than looking at the stain and it's better than buying a new table!!
I would try the toothpaste thing, I have heard it works!!!

I've used a product called JASCO Furniture White Ring Remover before with some satisfactory results. I can't remember if I got it at our local hardware store or the grocery store but it will definately help out with the ring. It's a cloth, impregnated with some kind of oily, waxy stuff and it comes in a littly white jar. Here is their web site address which I found in tiny print on the back of the jar - www.jasco-help.com. Good luck!

Try LOC from Quixtar. You put it on straight, then rub it off. I had to try it shortly after getting married when my husband put a pizza box with a hot pizza in it on the piano bench. Was it ever unsightly! We are distributors so I had some LOC on hand and had heard it would work. Believe me, I was praying pretty hard!

Since then, I've used it for a number of things! It moisturizes the wood to boot, so you'll want to shine up the whole table with it, not just the spot.

In the grocery store, there is some old fashioned furniture oil/polish. I forget the name. But it is not Old English or the other more common brand names. It comes in a clear bottle I think. Don't know if it will work, but you can try rubbing it in for a while to see if it helps. At the very least, I think it would darken the spot. I can remember it getting rid of water rings all the time. That stuff is awesomee! And I wonder why I stopped using it.

Sorry to interrupt, but I am wondering if I would be able to reach you to ask about a previous post:
How wonderful that you are working on Scripture with your children!

I created my own Scripture ABC books, a different one each year from ages 3-5. I started running out of some letters after that! :)

They've been a great tool because they now know 72 verses by heart. We just reuse the books now, and then I teach them Scripture that is especially meaningful to us for some reason or another.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful tip!

I am wondering if you would send me your 3 years' worth of texts with ABC's. I have a 4 year old and a 8 month old. My name is Amy and you can see me at Manlylife@blogspot.com

God Bless and thank you!
